The appointment secretary will contact a patient to arrange an appointment with the X-Ray department following receipt of a referral for X-Ray signed by a doctor
A referral letter is required to be sent from your GP by post or via healthlink system to the department
As X-rays involve the use of a small amount of ionising radiation, female patients will be asked the date of the first day of their most recent period, and whether there is any possibility they may be pregnant. If they are unsure of their pregnancy status the appointment will be deferred until the patient is definitely not pregnant
If the patient has any special requirement such as sight or hearing deficits, requires any assistance (eg must have a hoist to get out of a chair) or has any cognitive deficit please let the X-Ray Department know when making the appointment
