Consultant Anaesthetist Dr. Kate Fitzgerald graduated from University College Cork in 1996 and travelled to Australia after completing her internship to continue her career in anaesthesiology. Dr. Fitzgerald began her Irish anaesthetic training on the Cork Basic Specialist Training Scheme in 1999 and continued with the National Anaesthesia Training Programme, obtaining the Fellowship of the College of Anaesthetists in 2003.
Dr. Fitzgerald completed a Masters degree in Anaesthesia in 2005, winning the prestigious Swan Medal for Excellence in Clinical Anaesthesia in 2006. Dr. Fitzgerald obtained her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 2007.
Dr. Fitzgerald returned to Australia to complete a fellowship in Clinical Anaesthesia at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia before returning to Ireland in 2007 to accept a position here at Bon Secours as a Consultant Anaesthetist.
