Orthopaedic Surgery
Ms. Eimear Conroy is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hand and wrist surgery and hip and knee arthroplasty (hip and knee replacement).
Ms. Conroy is a strong advocate of evidence based practise, including appropriate, effective pain management and exercise based rehabilitation at an early stage for her patients. She uses computerised navigation systems in knee replacement surgeries to aid restoration of alignment and optimise recovery and encourages her patients to engage in an accelerated rehabilitation and discharge programme after all surgeries.
After working in Boston Children’s Hospital in 2012 with Dr Peter Waters and Dr Donald Bae on upper limb paediatric cases, Ms. Conroy moved to New Zealand and completing a Fellowship in Hand and Wrist Surgery in 2014 at Middlemore Hospital Auckland under the guidance of Mr. Michael Boland. Ms. Conroy then went on to complete a Fellowship in Arthroplasty and Trauma in 2015 at Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand, under the mentorship of Mr. Hugh Blackley and Mr. Jacob Munro, before returning to Ireland, to Kerry, where she has worked since 2015.
As well as hip and knee replacement, Ms. Conroy performs both arthroscopic (keyhole) and open hand and wrist surgeries, including Ulnar sided wrist pain, carpal tunnel, post traumatic wrist pain/arthritis, acute and chronic ulnar collateral ligament ruptures (Gamekeeper’s Thumb) and Medial and Lateral Epicondylitis.
