The Department of Urology at Bon Secours Hospital Tralee provides a Consultant led diagnostic and treatment service for both adult and paediatric patients with suspected urological disorders or disease.
All aspects of general urology focusing on the urinary tracts of males and females are treated; common problems including urinary tract infection, urinary incontinence, scrotal swellings, penile abnormalities, investigation of blood in the urine, investigation of an abnormal prostate blood test (PSA), bladder and prostate cancer. The Urology Department is continuously introducing new treatments to extend our service to our patients, such as minimally invasive intra-urethral bulking procedures for stress urinary incontinence.

We offer an excellent Urodynamics Department supporting both the hospital’s Urology and Gynaecology teams. Services provided include:
Mr. Buckley’s first introduction to Urological surgery was in Boston in the University Medical Centre where he was exposed to Dr. R. Krane's Unit. He also assisted at vascular access procedures and renal transplantation.
Mr. Buckley has been a full time Urological Surgeon since 1987. He is fully trained in all aspects of open and endoscopic Urological surgery. He has extensive experience in Urodynamics, Urogynaecology and the surgery of the incontinent patient. Mr. Buckley is fully trained in all aspects of stone surgery, including open, ureteroscopic and percutanous stone management. He is experienced in the use of a number of lithotripters. He is fully trained in all aspects of urinary tract reconstruction, including ureteric replacement, bladder augmentation, continent diversion, the insertion of the artificial urinary sphincter and urethral reconstruction. Mr. Buckley trained in the management of the spina bifida and spinal injured patients and in the managing of neuro-urology and the neuropathic bladder. He is trained in the management of paediatric patient including hypospadius repair, urethral reconstruction, ureteric reimplantation and the management of the upper tract obstruction and continent diversion. Mr. Buckley is also trained in andrology and renal transplantation. He is trained in cancer surgery of the urinary tract including radical nephrectomy, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, radical cystoruethrectomy and radical prostatectomy

Ms Fanning, originally from County Wexford, graduated with Honours from University College Dublin in 2004. Ms Fanning has completed both Basic Surgical Training and Higher Surgical Training Schemes in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Ms Fanning was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012.
Ms Fanning takes great pride in developing her knowledge and expertise with postgraduate qualifications including an MD from University College Dublin, a Masters in Medical Education from Queens University Belfast and a Diploma in Health Services Management from Westmoreland College, Dublin. Ms Fanning has received numerous awards and research grants for her work. Ms Fanning is a proud member of learned societies, such as the European Association of Urology, American Urology Association and the Irish Society of Urology.
Ms. Fanning joined the staff of Bon Secours Hospital Tralee and the Bon Secours Hospital Limerick at Barringtons in 2015.
Ms Fanning caters for all areas of adult general urology. This encompasses a wide range of conditions including for example Urinary Tract Infections, Urinary Incontinence, Kidney Stone Disease, Benign Prostate Disease, Superficial Bladder Cancer, Assessment for Prostate Cancer, Scrotal Swellings and Penile Abnormalities.
Ms. Fanning is an examiner for the RCSI Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) postgraduate examinations.

Mr Taha spent the last eight years completing his Urology training here in Ireland across various centres including Beaumont University Hospital, Tallaght University Hospital and Galway University Hospital. During that time, Mr Taha completed the Fellowship of the European Board of Organ Retrieval and Kidney Transplant and also a Senior Clinical Fellowship in Pancreas and Kidney Transplant. During his time in University Hospital Galway, Mr Taha worked extensively in paediatric urology and he will bring this special interest with him here to Tralee.
Mr Taha has extensive experience in dealing with all common adult and paediatric urological complaints.
