Pulmonary Rehabilitation* is a multidisciplinary programme for patients with respiratory conditions or for those patients who have become deconditioned and need to start exercising again. * for Pulmonary rehabilitation a GP or consultant referral is needed.
What does the programme consist of?
It consists of 12 exercise classes which are supervised by a chartered physiotapist. These classes including strength & conditioning components. Education sessions specifically for respiratory patients are given each Thursday.
What will the education sessions involve?
You will receive 6 educational talks each Thursday on different topics, from the following professions: -
Many patients with COPD start to avoid exercise due to their breathlessness and this course is the best way of starting to exercise again in a supervised environment.
Individual exercise sessions can also be arranged if the class times are not suitable.
