Biography

Dr Sucheta Johnson started her medical career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2001 by doing post graduation in Punjab, India. She has been a part of Irish Medical system since 2006.

She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) since 2007 and Royal college of Obstetrician and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), London since 2010.

She has been working as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in University Maternity Hospital and St John’s Hospital, Limerick since 2017.

Areas of Interest

Her main areas of interest are benign gynaecology: management of menstrual disorders, pelvic floor repairs, management of chronic pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, fertility issues, IUCD insertions and contraceptive advice management of menopausal symptoms and HRT advice.

She  is particularly interested in minimal invasive surgery including laparoscopy , hysteroscopy and ambulatory gynaecology.

She is proficient in carrying out Hysteroscopic morcellation for both polyps and fibroids and is particularly interested in minimal invasive and ambulatory gynaecology.  Dr Johnson runs an out-patient hysteroscopy clinic in the University Maternity Hospital, Limerick.

Biography

Prof. Uzma Mahmood is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.

Prof. Mahmood provides a general obstetric and a wide range of benign gynaecology service.  Her area of expertise is minimally invasive gynaecology surgery which provides less pain, quicker recovery and shorter hospital stay.  She is also a certified colposcopist and robotic gynaecology surgeon.

Prof. Uzma Mahmood is a medical graduate Punjab University, Pakistan and a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (2008) and the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (2009). She received her MD from the University College Cork (2012), following studies on fetal microchimerism and maternal wound healing.

Prof.Mahmood has successfully completed her specialist training in the Irish training scheme and has worked in a number of hospitals across the country including the 3 busiest maternity hospitals namely the Rotunda, Coombe Women/Infants University and Cork University Maternity Hospital where she has gained significant experience managing all aspects of pregnancy.   

She was awarded CSCST by the Irish Committee on Higher Training in 2017 and has been on the Medical Council's register of medical specialists since then. She completed her Graduate Certificate in Obstetric Ultrasound in 2015 from UCO and is a certified Coloposcopist. She pursued further speciality training in robotic benign gynaecological surgery in Cork 2017.

Uzma took up a post as Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at Limerick University & Maternity Hospital in 2018. At Limerick Maternity Hospital, she is the lead clinician for early pregnancy clinic and is lead in Robotic gynaecological surgery in Limerick. 

Uzma’s research has resulted in many peer-reviewed original papers and published conference proceedings. Her research interests include polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, minimally invasive and Robotic gynaecological surgery.

She is a member of the British Society for Gynaecological endoscopy, Society of European Robotic Gynaecological Surgery, and the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Uzma is an Associate Professor in University Hospital Limerick and committed to undergraduate and postgraduate training and is passionate about providing excellent obstetric and gynaecological care for women attending University Maternity Hospital Limerick. She provides regular training for medical and midwifery staff on obstetric ultrasound and obstetric emergencies.

Biography

Mr Umar has special interest in following areas;

1) Treatment of urinary incontinence and all other urinary problems (vaginal slings TVT)

2) Management of pelvic organ prolapse (bladder , uterus, Bowel) MESH implantation

3) Minimal invasive treatments for periods problem (thermal ablation, TCRE, fibroid resection)

4) Laparoscopic surgery (key hole) for ovarian cyst, Tubal ligation, hysterectomy

5) Infertility investigations and treatment (scans, follicle monitoring, IUI, IVF)

6) HRT (hormone replacement therapy)
