Our dedicated Endoscopy Suite is located on the second floor of the hospital. We perform procedures under local anaesthetic or sedation. Patients arriving at our facility always receive personal, friendly and efficient service. We strive to minimize the time and inevitable anxiety associated with endoscopy investigations, while making sure that we maintain our high standards of individual attention, thoroughness, and quality.
Our skilled and dedicated nursing staff and support staff provide outstanding care for the patient and technical support to the Consultant ensuring the highest standards of care and safety After procedures are completed, patients are returned to the recovery area where light refreshments are offered and test results are explained by the Consultant. We are fully equipped to perform both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as: Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, Flexible cystoscopy
Access to Service:
An e- referral from a GP / Consultant will be required for each patient attending the selected consultant. Please ensure an e-referral is sent via healthlink - we no longer accept fax or postal referrals.

Dr Pardeep Kumar Maheshwari graduated from Pakistan and moved to Ireland in 2007. He started his gastroenterology training at University Hospital Limerick in 2011. He completed his dual specialty specialist training in gastroenterology and Internal Medicine at University Hospital Galway and Beaumont Hospital, Dublin respectively.
Upon completion of his gastroenterology training, he moved to the United Kingdom (UK) for an Advanced Fellowship in Therapeutic Endoscopy at the Freeman Hospital Newcastle Upon Tyne, where he gained significant experience in pancreatobiliary disease, endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP procedure. At the time he also completed a Master’s degree (MSc) in Clinical Research at NUI Galway and Diploma in Health Services and Management from the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM), UK.
After receiving certification from the European Board of Gastroenterology, he was subsequently awarded with Fellowship in 2019. He has several publications and presentations to his name, which he presented at both national and international level. Prior to taking up his post as Consultant Gastroenterologist at University Hospital Limerick, he was a consultant in the NHS, UK.
He is highly experienced in general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease, IBS, hepatology and pancreatobiliary disorders, but his special interests include therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP.
Dr Maheshwari special interests include therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP.

Dr Maeve Skelly – MB BCh BAO (Hons), DIP GI FRCPI, PhD
Dr Skelly graduated from University College Dublin with honours in 1989. She trained in Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology in St Vincent’s Hospital and at the same time, completed a PhD in UCD.
Following completion of her training in Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, she was a lecturer in the University of Nottingham and subsequently worked as a Consultant in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
She was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician in the University Hospital Limerick in 2005.
Dr Skelly has a particular interest in all aspects of GI Endoscopy and has researched and published on this area. Her clinical interests include investigation and management of liver disease and Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Dr Skelly served years on the National Working Group for Quality Assurance in Endoscopy, as well as being a Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) recognised Trainer of Colonoscopy Trainers.
Dr Skelly is Clinical Lead in the Mid West for Bowel Screen, the National Bowel Cancer Screening programme.
Dr Skelly was Clinical Lead for GI Endoscopy in the UHL hospital groups for a number of years and a former Treasurer and current Board member of Irish Society of Gastroenterology.
Dr Skelly is Treasurer of RCPI, the largest post graduate medical training body in Ireland.
Liver Function Testing - Fibroscan
Fibroscan is the gold standard non-invasive solution for the comprehensive management of liver health. A fibroscan delivers biomarkers for fibrosis and steatosis assessment. The scan normally takes 15 – 20 minutes to perform. This service is led by Dr Maeve Skelly Consultant Gastroenterologist at Bon Secours Hospital Limerick.
