Chief Commercial Officer
David Scannell is the Chief Commercial Officer for the Bon Secours Health System, Ireland’s largest independent Hospital Group, which has a network of 5 modern, JCI-accredited acute hospitals. David is responsible for two key areas of the group, namely;
1. Commercial – manages relationships, negotiations and contracts with the Private Medical Insurers and the public system, primarily the NTPF (National Treatment Purchase Fund).
2. Revenue Cycle - manage approx. 90 staff across the function, which is responsible for the billing, claims and cash collection for the group.
David was formerly the CFO for St Vincent’s Private Hospital for approx. 5 years and enjoyed huge success with strong increases in all key performance metrics over that period. Prior to this, David lived in Melbourne (Australia) for approx. 5 years and held the role of CFO, and interim General Manager, of medical device manufacturer ConvaTec. During his final year, David managed the ConvaTec ANZ (Australia & New Zealand) business and was a part of the team which completed its IPO on the London Stock Exchange in 2016.
David is Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) through Chartered Accountants Ireland, having qualified in 2006. David’s undergraduate degree, BSc (Hons) in Accounting, was undertaken at University College Cork. David is also a Chartered Tax Advisor through the Institute of Tax in Australia. David is currently pursuing a postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Innovation through Trinity College Dublin.
Outside of work, David has a passion for travelling, having lived and worked in Australia, Sweden and Spain. David also has a keen love of all sports having played competitively for a long time, but his particular passions lie in rugby and golf. David lives in North County Dublin and is married with two kids who ensure that he is kept very busy in and out of work
