Heather graduated from University College Cork in 2012. She completed her basic training in Cork before joining the Higher Specialist Training programme in 2016, working in Cork, Beaumont and Tallaght University Hospitals. She completed a Fellowship year in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Dublin in Inherited Cardiac Conditions. Following this, Heather was awarded the Brian McGovern Scholarship to travel to London to complete further Fellowship Training in St. Bartholomew’s Hospital.
Heather was awarded an M.D from University College Dublin for her research on the clinical and genetic basis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She has published widely in the area. She returned to Ireland in 2022 to take up a post in Cork University Hospital. She is an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer in University College Cork.
Areas of Interest
Heather’s specialist interests include heart failure and general cardiology, cardiac imaging, specifically echocardiography and cardiac MRI and the genetic basis of inherited cardiovascular disease.
