The Orthotics service is of benefit to clients with symptoms of back, hip, knee, foot pain
The Orthotics service at our hospital in Galway is of benefit to clients with symptoms of back, hip, knee, foot pain, biomechanical problems relating to sports and mal-alignment. From combining corrective orthotics with physiotherapy services, patients will be assisted in the correction alignment and aided in resolution of ongoing symptoms.
Prescription orthotics are custom made insoles for your footwear to correct your specific imbalances, and are specific to the individual. Foot mal-alignment can contribute to injury (especially repetitive type stress injuries), whereas early intervention with orthotics can help to prevent this.
During the consultation process, the Orthotic consultant conducts a thorough patient assessment examination covering the following key points:
Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm
A referral letter is required to be sent from your GP by fax or post to the relevant consultant.
Your first appointment entails a full assessment and will take approximately one hour. For this assessment and all other appointments it is recommended to wear shorts/skirt for lower limb examination and to bring a selection of shoes that are normally worn.
