The Pharmacy Department at Bon Secours Hospital Galway is responsible for the procurement, organisation and control of medications throughout the hospital.

Our prime focus is the provision of a high quality, safe, efficient and cost effective service which is always patient centred and flexible.
Our services include:
- A quality dispensing service to inpatients/outpatients
- An up-to-date, accurate and comprehensive medical information service for all medical and nursing staff as well as for patients
- A clinical pharmacy service to all wards. Our pharmacists visit the wards twice daily and review all prescriptions on your inpatient medication sheet to ensure treatment is appropriate and adequate, and that the prescribing is clear, unambiguous and in compliance with the hospital policy
- Education of patients on your medications. We will visit your room on request or alternatively you can visit the Pharmacy Department on discharge and talk to the pharmacist confidentially in our consultation room
- Drugs Payment Scheme (DPS) Under this scheme patients only have to pay up to a maximum of €144 each month for approved prescribed medicines for use in that month.
- We assist you if you have been prescribed a High-Tech medication on discharge by notifying the HSE High-Tech Liaison Officer as well as notifying your community pharmacy This ensures you will have your new medication in a timely manner
