Cardiology Department provides a range of diagnostic invasive, non-invasive & dedicated cardiology services for patients referred by their GP / Consultant.
The Cardiology Department provides a wide range of diagnostic invasive and non-invasive procedures and dedicated cardiology services for the assessment and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
The Cardiology Department at the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin provides a wide range of diagnostic invasive and non-invasive procedures while offering dedicated cardiology services for the assessment and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The Department caters for inpatients, outpatients and referrals from GPs, Consultants and other hospitals for cardiology assessment, evaluation, treatment and management.
The Department includes a team of seven expert Cardiologists who have a variety of sub specialisation and interests to ensure the breath and depth of the services that the department provides. The department also includes a team of highly trained Clinical Cardiac Physiologists and ECG technicians to ensure rapid analysis, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of heart conditions.
The team works very closely with the Cardiac Cath Lab and St Brigid’s Cardiac Ward in the development of existing cardiac services and the expansion of new ones bringing the department to the forefront of cardiac care nationally.
Below is a list of the the non invasive cardiac diagnostic tests that are provided within the department. A GP or consultant referral is required to access the tests.
Dr Bijjam has been a practising Consultant Cardiologist in the Mater University Hospital, and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda since 2023. He completed his Cardiology Specialist Training in Ireland with Interventional Fellowship
His areas of expertise include General cardiology with a speciality interest in coronary artery disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, Echo and imaging.
Dr Bijjam will provide the following at the Bon Secours Cavan Clinic:
- Non-invasive Cardiac investigations, including TTE (Echo), Holter, Exercise Stress Test, CT coronary angiograms.
- Heart Failure management
- Coronary Artery Disease Management

Dr Doyle joined the Consultant staff in the Bon Secours in 2016. He previously served as a Consultant Cardiologist and a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in the United States (2004-2010). His special interest is in the treatment of coronary artery disease, complex coronary stenting and percutaneous treatment of chronic total coronary occlusion.

Originally from Athlone, Dr Keaney graduated from UCD medical school in 2004. During his initial cardiac training in Ireland, he was awarded a Newman Fellowship in translational Medicine from UCD and the Mater. Dr Keaney undertook a fellowship in complex cardiac electrophysiology in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, the largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.
Dr Keaney took up a position as a consultant electrophysiologist and cardiologist in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in 2016, and is now the director of the Electrophysiology program at the Mater.
In addition to the Newman Fellowship above, Dr Keaney has contributed to a number of academic texts, including being an invited contributor to the most recent addition of the European Society of Cardiology textbook, and international guideline-writing committees. His main areas of research are catheter ablation of arrhythmias and stroke prevention in AF.

Dr Keelan graduated from UCD in 1993. He completed his Cardiology training in the Mater & St Vincent’s Hospitals in Dublin and also in the Mayo Clinic USA where he undertook Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and also research that culminated in the award of MD degree from UCD. He was appointed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in 2004 and has been in practice there since. He also practices in the Mater Private Hospital. His specialties include Coronary Angiography & Stenting, Cardiac Pacing and Cardiovascular Pharmacology.

Prof McAdam graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1987. He is Director of Imaging and Heart Failure at Beaumont Hospital, Consultant Cardiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine RCSI School of Medicine.

Dr Patrick O’Boyle is an interventional cardiologist in Dublin with extensive international training. Dr O’Boyle studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and St George’s Hospital, University of London. After further medical training at St Thomas’ Hospital, London and in Queensland Australia he specialised in cardiology in Glasgow, Scotland.
Dr O’Boyle received advanced training in complex coronary intervention during his fellowship at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Scotland, he now specialises in routine and complex stenting procedures, intravascular imaging and coronary physiology. Dr O’Boyle is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland.
Worrying about heart problems can be a stressful time and Dr O’Boyle seeks to guide patients through their treatment with kindness and expert care.
Originally from Belfast, Dr O’Boyle is delighted to be home in Ireland and is accepting new patient referrals.

Dr Bhanu Prakash Srinivas is a Consultant Cardiologist in Bons Secours Hospital Dublin. He has been a practising Consultant Cardiologist in Mater University Hospital, and Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan since 2019. He completed his Cardiology Specialist Training in Ireland culminating in a dedicated Interventional Fellowship. He has completed a Masters in Healthcare Management and is committed to improving patient experiences.
His areas of expertise include general cardiology with speciality interest in coronary artery disease, pacemakers, and complex coronary artery intervention.

If your GP or Consultant has sent in a referral on your behalf, our team will contact you directly to arrange and confirm your appointment. GPs can send referrals via healthlink or by secure email to dublincardiologybookings@bonsecours.ie
Consultant appointments are arranged directly with the individual consultant. All cardiologists will require a GP referral before seeing a new patient.
