General Surgery Definition General surgery is the treatment of injury, deformity, and disease using operative procedures
Our General Surgery teams evaluate and treat a full range of general surgery conditions and perform a range of open and, more commonly, laparoscopic procedures. A minimally invasive approach to surgery, laparoscopic procedures afford our patients the benefit of smaller incisions, less pain, fewer heart, lung and wound complications and shortened hospital stay.
Our General Surgeons have special interests including colorectal and upper gastrointestinal surgery. Our surgeons work closely with other medical specialties to provide optimal patient care and collaborate with other departments in the hospital including the Endoscopy and Gastrointestinal Department. Collaboration by our Surgeons with referring physicians is an essential part of the management of every patient’s care.
Please note that our Surgical Assessment Unit is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm
