EDUCATION NURSE PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT UNIT (ENPDU)
BACKGROUND
The Education Nurse Practice Development Unit (ENPDU) at the Bon Secours Hospital was established in June 2002 and evolved from the pre existing School of Nursing, which was an integral part of the hospital in Cork since 1923. Currently, we work in partnership with the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Cork for the education of undergraduate nurses.
We provide a wide range of high quality in-service education and training programmes, in accordance with the mission and values of Bon Secours Hospital and Health System. All education and training programmes combine online/ theoretical/ and practical components and course / programme participants are provided with an opportunity to reflect and apply research based knowledge to their clinical practice. The schedule of in-service education and on-going professional development programmes reflects the educational needs of staff. The educational and training needs of our healthcare assistants are also catered for.
