After the initial detection and staging of tumours on ultrasound, CT and MRI, the patient will often have a biopsy performed by a radiologist under imaging-guidance.
The radiology department equipment is state-of-the-art; there are new 160 and 80 slice CT scanners and a new wide bore 1.5 Tesla MRI. We also have the full range of other services such as:
We have 6 full time consultant radiologists and a large team of experienced radiographers and interventional radiology nurses.
The radiologists at Bon Secours Cork Cancer Centre collaborate closely with the oncologists and surgeons, on day-to-day issues and at multi-disciplinary meetings, to deliver the best possible service, treatments and outcomes for all our patients.
All patients require a G.P or Consultant referral for x-rays and scans.
